Vietnam War Veterans Exposed to Agent Orange may be Eligible for VA Disability Compensation

You are here:

  3. Vietnam War Veterans Exposed to…

During the Vietnam War, Agent Orange was a tactical herbicide the U.S. military used to clear leaves and vegetation for military operations mainly during the Vietnam War. Veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange may have certain related illnesses.

If you have an illness caused by exposure to Agent Orange during military service, find out if you may be eligible for disability compensation and how to apply.

VA’s list of presumptive conditions related to Agent Orange has expanded to include Parkinsonism, bladder cancer, and hypothyroidism. Previously denied herbicide exposure claims will be reexamined. If you’re a Vietnam Veteran or an eligible survivor with health problems potentially caused by Agent Orange exposure during military service, you may be eligible for disability compensation

Click on  Agent Orange exposure to go to the VA website for a full list of presumptive diseases associated with Agent Orange.   Currently the VA covers eight types of cancer and seven other health issues, including Parkinson’s.

If you are a Veteran and not certain you are covered, click on the link above, or contact your local Veteran’s Administration office.
